Hugh Laurie is a British actor who to many is simply Dr. Gregory House from the hit series, House. The multi-award winning actor has remained a very interesting figure in Hollywood for the many films he has been involved in, the most popular of which includes Sense and Sensibility.

On June 11, 1959, the actor was born as James Hugh Calum Laurie in Blackbird Leys, Oxford, England. He was raised alongside an older brother and two sisters by a mother he didn’t have the best relationship with and a sportsman and Olympic gold medalist father.
Of Scottish origin, Laurie attended the Dragon After his studies at Oxford, he then attended Eton College, then Selwyn College, in Cambridge, in the same spirit as his father, who was a doctor. While at school, he decided to take up rowing, which led to him joining the British youth team for the 1977 World Rowing Junior Championships. Along with his partner, JS Palmer, Laurie won a silver medal at the Silver Goblets & Nickalls Challenge Cup. from 1980.
His rowing career was cut short as a result of glandular fever, and it was what prompted him to become an actor when he joined the Cambridge University Drama Club. This is where he would meet the likes of Emma Thompson and Stephen Fry. Although he went on to be part of some major productions before graduating, his first known work was The Cellar Tapes which was in his senior year and starring the likes of Fry and Thompson.
His career would continue from 1981 to span several years that followed, he would star in movies and TV shows and play roles in voice acting, animations, documentaries and music albums and singles. Among the films he is a part of are The Night Manager, House, and Veep

Hugh Laurie is married to Jo Green. The two started dating back to 1988 and by 1989 they were already husband and wife. Their wedding took place in Camden, UK. Nearly 30 years after becoming addicted, the actor and his wife have three children, Charles Archibald Laurie, born in 1988, William Albert Laurie (1991) and Rebecca Augusta, born in 1993.
